Dutch soprano Nienke Otten was last heard in theaters across Holland and Belgium as Poppea in Monteverdish, an adaptation of L’Incoronazione di Poppea produced by the internationally renowned VocaalLAB and Amsterdam based dance company ISH.

She also performed at the 2011 Amsterdam Grachtenfestival in the Dutch premiere of Die Flut and Abstrakte Oper by German composer Boris Blacher.

Nienke created the roles of Maria Barbara and Anna Magdalena in the performance Tranen van Bach (Muziektheater Hollands Diep) and the title role of the children’s opera The Little Match Girl (Holland Opera/De Doelen).

Other roles include Morgana (scenes from Alcina, Händel, Opera aan Zee Festival) Silvia (L’Isola Disabitata, Haydn) a co-production of Opera Trionfo and the Dutch Grachtenfestival, and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) in a semi-staged performance at the conservatory of Amsterdam.

Solo oratorio performances include Bach’s Matthew Passion with the Residentie Orkest (conductor Matthew Halls), BWV 51 (Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen), Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach’s St. John Passion, St. Matthew Passion, Mass in B Minor and Magnificat, Händel’s Te Deum and Messiah, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Fauré’s Requiem, Poulenc's Stabat Mater, Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem and Orff’s Carmina Burana.

Nienke has sung under the baton of conductors including Jos Vermunt, Peter Biloen, Ton Koopman, Peter Robinson and Vincent de Kort and worked with directors such as Cilia Hogerzeil, Joke Hoolboom, Stephen Lawless, Sybrand van der Werf and Elsina Jansen.

This soprano recently received her Master’s degree from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where she studied under Sasja Hunnego and Peter Nilsson. She currently studies with Margreet Honig in Amsterdam.

In this season she will sing Norina (Don Pasquale) with Camerata Amsterdam and conductor Jeroen Weierink.
